I paint to explore personality and mood.
A crinkled up nose or fit of joyous laughter; the slicing of a single telephone wire through vast expanse of sky; the stripping away of extraneous matter to get at the heart of a person or thing - these are what inspire me to paint.
My work illuminates the mundane by exaggerating the awkward, calm, or introspective. By reconstructing and preserving an otherwise overlooked or forgotten moment, my painting process becomes an exploration of the ‘personality’ of that moment; and encourages the viewer to reconsider and reevaluate the ordinary interludes that make everyday life extraordinary.
